The vegetation of Kaziranga National Park mainly constitutes of three major types. These are classified as alluvial afloat grasslands containing thickets of tall elephant grass and short grasses, tropical wet evergreen forests and tropical semi-evergreen forests. But what is prominent is the tall elephant grass between the swamplands caused by the floodwaters of the mighty river Brahmaputra. Moreover, the glory of Kaziranga is its breathtaking array of flowers in the form of abundant cover of water lilies, lotus and water hyacinth, giving a beautiful look to the ambiance of the park. Its geographical positioning has gifted an ample species of climbing palm which also adds value to the natural beauty of the park. The study of the flora in Kaziranga is classified as follows: 41% of the total vegetation is covered with Tall Thickets of Elephant Tall Grasses, 29% Open Jungle, 11% Short Grasses, 8% of the area is covered with rivers and water bodies, 06% Sand and rest 4% is Swamplands. Some prominent Flora found in the Kaziranga National Park are - Aphanamixis polystachya, Talauma hodgsonii, Dillenia indica, Garcinia tinctoria, Ficus rumphii, Cinnamomum bejolghota, Albizia procera, Duabanga grandiflora, Lagerstroemia speciosa, Crateva unilocularis, Sterculia urens, Grewia serrulata, Mallotus philippensis, Bridelia retusa, Aphania rubra, Leea indica, and Leea umbraculifera.Elephant grass, Spear grass, Common red grass etc.

Fauna of Kaziranga
Located on the banks of mighty river Brahmaputra of the north east India, the Kaziranga national park and wildlife sanctuary is an Indian National Park, Wildlife Reserve and world heritage site declared by UNESCO. Sprawling over an area of 430 square kilometers with its marshlands and tall elephant size grass making, it a perfect habitat for Indian one-horned Rhinos, Asiatic Elephants, largest Density of Bengal Tigers and it houses Various endangered species of animals.
